Hot temperatures have arrived and Memorial Day is right around the corner – you are bound to be invited to some backyard BBQs in the next few weeks. The considerate thing to do as a guest is to bring something — you should never arrive to a house for food without bringing something to the table. The difficult aspect of this is often deciding on what to bring. No worries. Here are five options to bring to a BBQ that you could never go wrong with.

1. Fruit dish.

One of the best things to bring to an outdoor event like a BBQ is anything that is hydrating, refreshing and light to munch on, and fruit is all of these things in one. Consider all the tropical fruits: papaya, watermelon, pineapples, mango and multi-seasonal fruits like strawberries and blueberries. If you want to get creative and not just bring fruit in separate bowls or mixed in a bowl, you can also cut them and stack pieces of varied fruit on individual wooden skewer sticks. This will make it easy for other guests to grab and eat, plus its fun.

I enjoy wandering and getting lost because that's the only way to discover new aspects about people, places, things and most significantly myself. I find inspiration in the various elements of travel, history, sports, fashion, music, movies and food. Writing is one of the most rewarding means for me to share my enthusiasm for the details of those inspirations.
