The Big Blowout: Alli Webb Revolutionizes Hair Beauty

No Cuts. No Color. Just Blowouts.

That’s what Alli Webb had in mind when she founded the company Drybar, which specializes in nothing but blowouts. Webb started the beauty craze in 2010, and she now averages 100,000 blowouts every month – that’s roughly 3,225 per day. This $20 million business is catching women’s attention as a cheap way to glam and go.

Webb has emerged in the beauty industry as a modern day hero. Her desire as a young girl to transform her untamed, curly hair to straight, boundary abiding locks was where her vision began. Kick starting her dream through grassroots marketing, she spent months and months planning and campaigning to make it possible.

In an interview with Maria Shriver, Webb described the struggle of her first salon. Barely making ends meet, she powered through as the business world gave her a run for her money. The trouble didn’t last too long, though, as the customers experienced the wonders of a $40 blowout. Let’s just say ladies have never looked at two Andrew Jacksons and a little bit of spare change in the same light.

Webb has since opened 37 salons, all of which are thriving one blowout at a time. There are now roughly 2,000 stylists, all of which have been properly trained to work their magic, leaving women with more self-assurance than ever before.

What started off as a one-woman show has transformed the industry and the lives of many. The 39-year-old mother of two says she sells confidence and happiness, not blowouts. “Sometimes I have to pinch myself to believe what we’ve created and how lucky I am that I get to do what I love everyday with the people I love,” said Webb.

Pinch all you want Webb, but your dream is now reality.
