CAAFD Emerging Designers Showcase Fall Winter 2017 Leaves Audience in Wonder

New York Fashion Week is, of course, one of the most highly regarded fashion events and comes twice a year, and it also never fails to amaze. Likewise, CAAFD (the Council of Aspiring American Fashion Designers) organizes an emerging designers showcase every season to highlight the best up-and-coming fashion designers from around the world and gives them center stage during this highly publicized time, and the two designers in this showcase, Sumy Kujon and Chicca Lualdi, rose to the occasion marvelously. The showcase, taking place on February 14th and produced by noted Fashion Guru and Business Maverick Resk ‘Que and taking place in the famous Pier59 location in New York City, featured sights and sounds unable to be found anywhere else during Fashion Week, including interludes of trumpet and violin playing, creating an unmistakable atmosphere.

The first featured emerging designer was the Peru-based Sumy Kujon. Kujon put her decade plus of experience to excellent use and put on an entirely unique show. After impressing at showcases all over the world, Kujon was overjoyed to present with CAAFD and put everything into this collection.

Featuring designs boasting incredible shapes and colors that are decidedly Sumy Kujon, this collection had it all: short dresses, longer dresses, see-through dresses, Kujon really flexed her designing muscles. Accessories also played a big part, with handbags and headwear putting the icing on the cake, as it were. It truly was marvelous to see the variety on display, with some designs showing an almost complete view of the model’s sleek frames, while others completely relied on the shape of the design to imbue an altogether different feeling.

Following Sumy Kujon was the Italian Superstar designer Chicca Lualdi with her BeeQueen collection. Lualdi’s designs were composed of something akin to an exaggerated everyday look, something you would wear to an office of the future. Sheer fabrics, long skirts and pants, trench coat like tops, and very muted colors helped give a very unique feeling to this collection. Aspects of the designs also featured elements from men’s clothing, but with a very feminine touch. If there is one word to describe Chicca Lualdi’s BeeQueen collection, it would have to be sophisticated.

And there you have it, another successful CAAFD emerging designers showcase in the record books. It was a very successful show, with all in attendence amazed at what took place before them. Check back next season for what CAAFD has in store, and also please follow Sumy Kujon and Chicca Lualdi, as they are destined to reach even greater heights.
