Contour Like A Kardashian
A while back, Kim K posted this semi-scary photo to her Twitter account to show the common people how she achieves such flawless, model-worthy bone structure.
Is it sad to say that it’s comforting to know that she doesn’t wake up that gorgeous? Oh well. But, ladies, why feel down and out about your own beauty abilities when you can snag Kim’s secrets with the click of a picture?
With the right makeup, and the right technique, you can copy Kim’s look in under ten minutes. I guess it really doesn’t take an entourage (or three hours in the makeup chair… imagine how your back would feel?) to have red-carpet-worthy skin!
First, get yourself one, do-it-all makeup palette. We like Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Contour Kit, $40 at Ulta. This kit is great because it features six shades, from the lightest sand to the deepest Havana (diggin’ the Caribbean vibe BTW). While you can use a kabuki brush to apply the powdery-yet-pigmented shades, we say that your fingers are your best beauty brushes (I know it’s a total mouthful, but easy to remember). Just follow Kim’s pic to know where to highlight, and where to contour. Generally, wherever the sun hits your face is where you should highlight—like the bridge of your nose, the triangular planes of your face (underneath your eyes). While the shadows of your face—by the hairline, underneath the cheekbones—is where you should contour.
The most fun part about this entire process is blending it all together, watching the Kardashian transformation come to life (just think of it as a grown-up, sophisticated take on color-by-numbers… see, those coloring books weren’t completely useless). See, contouring isn’t so bad when you have the right tools and Kim’s surprisingly helpful guide to show you how. Now, with all of that time you saved doing your makeup, you can sleep in! You are so welcome.
