Sick of the normal ice cream flavors this summer? There is now an entirely new type of frozen treat, ice cream made with crocodile eggs.

Crocodile Egg ice cream is the best selling option at the Sweet Spot Artisan Ice Cream Shop, located in the Philippines. The shop is near Davao Crocodile park of Davao city, so the owner is able to get a fresh supply of eggs as needed.

The ice cream shop provides three main crocodile egg flavors: Durian, Pandan, and Vanilla. The couple who owns Sweet Spot, Dino and Bianca Ramos, have additionally created “Ostrich Vanilla” and Dragon Fruit. The couple created this delectable treat as an experiment after Dino’s uncle gave the duo a batch of crocodile eggs.

Dizon said that Durian is the best selling flavor, even though the fruit smells. Durian is a native fruit to Davao. Bianca Dizon clarified that it, “tastes exactly like the fruit minus the smell.”

Other new flavors include: Strawberry Kiss, Chocoloco, Mangomazing, and Cookie Monster. Keep in mind that each is infused with crocodile eggs.

A shop representative told ABC News about how the ice cream is produced and why it is so successful. Bianca discussed how the process of making this ice cream is similar to any other type of ice cream’s. She explained that crocodile egg ice cream deviated from other types of ice cream because, “Crocodile eggs contain more yolk than white giving us a better viscosity and texture.” Thereby, the treat is creamier and thicker than standard ice cream. Crocodile eggs are supposedly 80% yolk and thereby even healthier than chicken eggs. However, since crocodiles are an endangered species the parlor only uses eggs that do not hatch or are surplus.
