Definition of “Seeing Other People” During a Relationship Break

Let’s say that you have been in a relationship for quite some time, and you or your partner suggests that you see other people. You are probably wondering “What the heck does that mean?” Have you ever seen the movie, “Two Can Play that Game” with Vivica A. Fox and Morris Chestnut where the couple hit a bump in the road and Vivica suggested that they “test the waters?” Well here is what she meant.

In some or many relationships the act of “seeing other people” is taken when you and your partner may supposedly need a “break” from one another to find yourselves, or simply because you need a break. Basically saying that you are tired of seeing each other and would like to see someone else until you are tired with them.

In some cases it can be a break up technique, but ultimately depends on the situation in which you call for wanting to see other people. Of course one party or both parties may not even see someone else while you both supposedly try to fix your relationship, and that is fine. However, if you are indeed trying to make your relationship work, seeing other people is not going to help things.

Take that “break” to figure some things out. To undergo self-growth so that if and when you and your partner get back together, things can be greatly better. However, do not be surprised if you or your partner finds someone new in the process of seeing other people. Sure it will hurt, but in the end you deserve someone who is as crazy in love with you as you are with them.

I absolutely love the movie “two can play that game” !!!! I know it always is hard to know what someone wants and means when they say they want a break. Back to the battle between Ross and Rachel on “Friends,” “WE WERE ON A BREAK!”, it’s almost impossible to please the person you’re taking a break from if you’re with someone else… from then, it might as well be a break up.
