Demi Lovato Defends her Cosmopoliatan Cover Against Haters

Demi Lovato looks incredible on the cover of Cosmo for their September issue in a short and cleavage revealing sequence dress and of course has gotten both positive and negative responses about it.

But actress turned singer isn’t standing for what her haters have to say about her. Lovato posted on Instagram to call out her critics, telling them she doesn’t care what she has to say because she has never been happier with her appearance.

In her post, Lovato lets the haters know that her newfound confidence and self-love, which admittedly “took soul searching and a bit of time,” allowed her to embrace her body and sexuality. She ends her powerful testimony by writing,

“I am confident in my own skin and A PROUD @COSMOPOLITAN COVER GIRL!”

Lovato has been pretty open when it comes to her past substance abuse, body image and self-esteem issues, and often tells her fans how long it took for her to love herself. She even post pictures almost ever Monday with the hashtag #nomakeupmonday to encourage her followers to feel comfortable and beautiful in their own skin.

Lovato tells the magazine she considered herself a feminist before it was cool and before everyone else decided to the claim the title.  She recently revealed her new album will show a different side of herself.

“The thing with my music, I’ve spent so long just kind of people pleasing, making everybody happy with being the best role model I can be,” she explained. “At the end of the day, yes, I’m outspoken about the things I believe in: mental health, advocacy work, I have my own charity. I have all these things that make me a role model. But at the same time, none of these things are representing the badass that I am.”
