Glamor, Lace and Sheers at Elie Saab Fall/Winter 2017

Elie Saab showed its fall/winter 2017 collection at Paris Fashion week March 4, according to Elle. The line kept to glamorous shades, with many outfits in black, dark purples, and deep blues. Lace, velvets, and gauzy sheers marked much of the collection. Dresses and formal gowns, ruffles, and ribbons all contributed to a black-tie feel. Even a leather jacket in the show was embellished with a lacy pattern, and worn with a translucent skirt.

Ensembles included a few over-the-knee leather boots, peep-toe shoes trimmed in fur, and plenty of scarves. The label also got on the jumpsuit trend that has appeared on the runway from multiple designers this season, showing a dark purple version with tapered legs and a sweetheart neckline, along with lacy sheer sleeves clutched around the neck by an enormous bow. One black velvet dress, styled with a scarf, had an illusion lace top and cutaway sheer lace panel on the skirt.

Several outfits also featured the polka dot tights similar to some that showed up at Milan Fashion Week on the Bottega Veneta catwalk.

Saab also brought shades of blue into the collection, including blazer jackets, lacy dresses and a furry skirt. One coat in blue had a boa-like neck and sleeves with puffs of fur at the forearms. The designer also showed an oversize coat in purple fur, matched with a silky skater-length dress.

Formalwear included a blue chiffon gown with layers of cascading sheer ruffles for a skirt and an illusion bateau neckline. Another piece in plum lace was trimmed in velvety ribbon, marking the lines of a bustier-styled bodice. One dress featured a whimsical graphic pattern that gave way to a sheer white skirt, and a cape in the same print. And a pale champagne gown with scrolling monochromatic embellishing kept to the sleeve focus popular this year, loose from shoulder to below the elbow, fitted from there to the wrist, then tied with a ribbon and flared to the knuckles.

I'm a lover of words in all forms, sweatshirts in all conditions, and God in all circumstances. I particularly enjoy working collaboratively on the written word and wearing microfiber robes (preferably at the same time). Most of the time I don't get enough sleep, but I make a valiant effort.
