Highlighting has become a huge tour de force in the beauty industry with hundreds of brands churning out some great and not so great products. Never fear we are here to guide you through theses glowing seas! We have scoured all the big corporate and small indie beauty brands looking for the best highlighters we could find, and we have some winners! In order to make our list, the highlighters had to be pigmented, easily blendable, and make us glow to the heavens! Read on to see who made it onto our list!
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powder
We love everything Becca! They offer a wide range of shades for every skin tone, and they have formulations in liquid, cream, and pressed powder, so no matter what your preference there is something for everyone! We particularly liked their Shimmering Skin Perfector pressed powders. They are extremely pigmented and blend like a dream. We also loved their liquid and cream highlighters as well. However, if you are new to the highlighting game powders are definitely easier to work with in the beginning! Price wise the babies are ringing up at $38
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder
This by far is the best highlighter if you want that glowing from within natural look. It is ideal for brides, special occasions, or for those of you that just want something subtle and not over the top. It can be a little pricey at $46, but the radiant natural glow it gives you is worth it!
The highlighters from this brand are a steal, at only $8! They are best applied with your fingers since they are a cream/powder hybrid. The texture is unlike anything we ever have felt before: soft and cushiony. If you push into it you’ll leave a dent, or crack it so be gentle, and make sure to close it up tight so it doesn’t dry out, we found that out the hard way!
Tip: If you want to make the highlighter even more beaming apply one layer of it then add a pressed powder highlighter over top. One of our favorite combos is Colour Pop Electric Slide applied with your fingers, with Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in the shade Opal dusted over top using a fanbrush.
Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder
These highlighters are a fine loose powder. Depending on how much you layer you can do either a subtle highlight or have astronauts see your glow from space! They aren’t too bad in terms of pricing coming in at $26.
Tip: We like applying these babies with the Morphe M501 brush. It gives you a subtle dusting, and makes sure the powder only goes in the area in which you want it to, no muss no fuss!
Laura Gellar Baked Gelatto Swirl Illuminator
This was another one of our favorites! If you are looking for a subtle highlight this one’s for you! It is pigmented, however, the formulation lends itself to a subtle highlight, more like your glowing from within, making it perfect for daily wear! Bonus, if MAC’s Whisper of Guilt was a fave of yours the shade Gilded Honey from Gellar is almost an exact dupe! The only downside is that for $26 it would be nice size wise to have a little more product.
Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighters
For the price they babies can’t be beat! They are only $6 at ULTA! They are pigmented and easy to use! The only downside is we wished the offered more variety in terms of shades, they only have shades for light to medium skin tones.
MAC Mineralize Skin finish
Of course, you know these would be on the list. MAC has some of the best highlighters on the market! They are extremely pigmented and they have shades for all skin tones. Bonus: You can actually use these as brow bone highlights as well! Price wise they come in at $33, not bad considering you get a lot of product!
