Kristen Stewart Debuts a Radical New Platinum Blonde Buzz Cut
Kristen Stewart shocked the red carpet on Tuesday when she appeared with a startling new platinum blonde buzz cut.
The 26-year old actress debuted the androgynous hairstyle at the Los Angeles premiere of her new film Personal Shopper.
Stewart let her hair be the star of night, with a clean and sleek black ensemble. She walked the red carpet in a simple black crop top, a dark and sheer corset, and a pair of loose black slacks. The actress also stuck to classic makeup: dark brows, a smoky charcoal eye, and a neutral pink lip.
While the platinum buzz cut isn’t totally unexpected of the edgy actress, Stewart supposedly chopped her dark tresses for an upcoming movie, Underwater.
Although, Stewart has openly entertained the idea of shaving her head in the past.
“I’m definitely going to shave my head before I die,” she disclosed to Into the Gloss in January 2014. “I will definitely tattoo my head while it’s shaved before my hair grows back. I’m not sure which part, probably the bottom quadrant in the back. I don’t know what the tattoo would be, yet. Still thinking.”
Even though there’s no news yet on any tattoo plans for her newly shaved head, the actress is clearly having fun with her fresh new look and flashed photographers several silly faces at the Personal Shopper premiere.
Stewart initially rose to fame in 2008 as Bella in the Twilight movies, which drew an impressive cult following over the course of the five films.
While Stewart has been somewhat shadowed from the spotlight since the Twilight franchise wrapped up in 2012, the actress has recently been drawing more attention.
Stewart hosted Saturday Night Live in February, and during her monologue publicly revealed for the first time that she was gay.
Joking about a series of tweets from President Trump back in 2012 about her relationship with Twilight co-star Robert Pattison, Stewart said: “And Donald, if you didn’t like me then, you’re really probably not going to like me now, cause I’m hosting SNL and I’m, like, so gay, dude.”
Even though Stewart has dated women over the years, including Alicia Cargile, French singer SoKo, singer-songwriter St. Vincent, and model Stella Maxwell, her monologue on SNL was the first time she addressed a concrete sexuality.
Stewart explained her decision to come out as a matter of relevancy.
“If it didn’t seem like a relevant topic, like something that needed help, I would have kept my life private forever. But then I can’t walk outside holding somebody’s hand, as I’m followed everywhere. When I was dating Rob, the public was the enemy – and that is no way to live. it wasn’t this grand statement, ‘I was so confused! Now I’ve realized who I am!’” she told The Sunday Times.
As Kristen Stewart seems to be stepping back into the public eye, both with her coming out and her bold new cut, it will be interesting to see what the young actress does next.
