Last Minute Halloween Makeup Idea: Dolls-Cute, Sexy, or Gory!
Hello, beauty fans! Halloween is just a few days away! Have you figured out your costume yet? If not, we have a last minute easy DIY makeup look for you, so grab your favorite drink, settle in, and let’s talk beauty!
A cute costume idea that is really easy to do is a doll. You can make it as cute or as gory as you like. Today we are going to stick with cute, and add a few options to make it a little gory for my beauty fans that want to kick it up a notch!
The main focus for this look is actually going to be the eyes, lips, and cheeks. We aren’t going to focus on a dramatic contour or a ton of highlight, though if you want to go with a sexier doll look you can opt instead to just play up the eyes and then add in your contour and highlight.
Step 1 Apply Eye Shadow Primer
Apply an e/s primer of your choice on the eyelid all the way up to the brow bone. You all know our favorites by now!
Step 2 Apply Light Pink Eye Shadow
Using a MAC 224 brush, apply a baby pink e/s from the lower to upper crease in windshield wiper and circular motions, but do not bring the color up to the brow bone!
Step 3 Apply a Hot Pink Eye Shadow
Using a Sigma E25 or any precision blending brush, apply a hot pink eye shadow to the lower part of your crease below the baby pink transition shade in windshield wiper and circular motions. Then go back over it with a clean blending brush to make sure there are no harsh lines.
Step 4 Apply a Darker Shade of Pink Eye Shadow
Using a MAC 242 or any small synthetic brush, pack the shadow all over the lid. Then go back over it with your clean blending brush, and buff out the crease where the lid color meets the crease colors.
Up the Fun factor: You can use a pink glitter to add some sparkle instead of doing a shadow!
Step 5 Apply Eye Liner
For this look, you can do just a straight line across the lash line with a black liquid or gel liner. If you are going for a sexier look you can do a dramatic wing!
Step 6 Lower Lash Line
Using a white eyeliner run it back and forth on your lower lash line from outer to inner corner making it a little thicker than your usual liner. The idea here is to make our eyes look big and doe-eyed like a doll’s. Make sure to also put it on your water line, we don’t want any breaks in the color.
Tip: To make the liner stay put, set with a bright white eye shadow; we like MAC’s Gesso.
Taking a black gel liner draw a thin line under the white liner. This gives contrast and emphasizes the white more. Make sure to go all the way into the inner corner just like you did with the white, and also connect the black liner to both the outer and inner corner of the black liner on the lid, we don’t want any breaks.
Step 7 Apply False Lashes or Draw Them On
Dolls are known to have big lashes, so apply the most dramatic upper pair you can think of! For the lower lashes apply a pair of spiky strip lashes, like MAC 7s. If you have a steady hand you can actually draw the lashes on also, which is what I did. This takes some time, so if you are in a rush or don’t feel comfortable trying to draw them on, applying strip lashes is a better choice.
Step 8 Apply Blush
Apply a hot pink blush on the apples of your cheeks making a pronounced circle. To make the circle look precise you can take a small pointed brush and outline the circle, and then fill it in with a small blush brush. Then blend out the edges slightly.
Tip: A good way to see where the apple of your cheeks are is to smile. The ball that pops out is where you will place the blush. If you don’t have a pronounced ball, you can just create one.
Step 9 Draw on Faux Freckles (Optional)
This step is optional, but to make you look like a cute dolly, you can apply faux freckles to the balls of the checks over the blush.
Step 10 Lips
Block out your lips using a concealer or a foundation. Then taking a hot pink lipstick apply it in a heart shape to the center of your lips only! Think of Winnie from the movie Hocus Pocus! Then outline the heart with a black lip liner or body paint.
Step 11 Add some Gore (Optional)
Option 1: Add Blood
If you want to make this look gory, add some blood dripping from your mouth or eyes.
Option 2: Draw a Different Mouth
Another option would be to draw a completely different mouth, one that is wide open with drawn-on teeth so it looks like you are a monster doll about to eat someone. This actually takes some time and is done easier with the use of body paints, so if you are more advanced in your makeup artistry skills, try this one out!
Option 3: Add Cracks
Draw some cracks on your face to make you look like a broken, cracked doll. This can be achieved by taking a small liner brush and either gel, or just using a liquid eyeliner pen and drawing small cracks on your face.
Tip: To make it look even creepier have some big areas filled completely in so it looks like you have chunks of your face missing.
The options are endless with this look; if you try it out let us know! Happy Halloween everyone!!
