Leonardo DiCaprio Raises 45 Million Dollars For Environmental Fundraiser

The forty-one-year-old Oscar-winning actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, has recently hosted a charity event gala to raise money for environmental research and awareness. The St. Topaz, France charity event is Leonardo DiCaprio and his foundation’s third fundraiser event and has gained $45 million dollars in their charity auction. The Leonardo Dicaprio’s Foundation has hosted silent events and auctions to support environmental change and awareness for over eighteen years. Their efforts have gained money for climate change research along with conservation and prevention grants all across the globe. For this event, DiCaprio decided to give a portion of the donation money to victims and survivors in the Nice attacks.

Since 2014, DiCaprio’s fundraisers have brought in a large amount of A-list guests. These celebrities have dressed in their best gowns and brought valuable items to auction off in the charity event. The French Riviera 2014 event brought in about 25 million dollars, but this year’s St. Topaz event has brought in more valuable auctioneer items than the last DiCaprio charity event. One of the biggest selling items was Adrien Brody’s painting “Tiger on Last Legs” that was sold for over 275,000 dollars. Leonard DiCaprio himself donated his prized Rolex, designer diamond cufflinks he wore during the 2016 Oscars, and Palm Springs Property. The Leonardo DiCaprio foundation also provided its first “New World Leadership Award” to The Prince of Monaco, Albert II for displaying a stellar determination to conserve the environment in his country.

Wednesday’s guest list included artists Bono and Mariah Carey, along with esteemed actors Toby Maguire, Jonah Hill, Bradley Cooper, and Edward Norton. DiCaprio also invited famous fashion supermodels Joan Smalls, Lily Donaldson, Doutzen Kroes, and Constance Jablonski. The event also featured live performances by Lana del Rey, Andrea Bocelli, and The Weeknd. The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has given over $59 million dollar total to the environmental conservation cause. The DiCaprio Foundation also raises money for wildlife protection, ocean conservation, and habitat preservation projects.
