Disney has made an announcement that there will be another live action version of a Disney classic. This time audiences can look forward to a live action version of the film “Mulan.” This announcement comes not to long after the premiere of the live action version of “Cinderella,” and the cast announcements of the live action version of “Beauty and the Beast.” The live action version of “Beauty and the Beast” is to be released in theaters March 17, 2017.
The story of “Mulan” follows the title character who takes her father’s place in the Chinese Army. She tricks all into thinking she is man so she can be in the army to help defend China. As the songs says “Let’s get done to business to defeat the Huns.” Mulan eventually is discovered that she is a woman and is forced to leave the army, however Mulan ends up being the heroine of the story. The original animated film was released in 1998 and was nominated for both and Oscar and Golden Globe.
According to the report from the Hollywood Reporter the script will be written by Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek. The film will also be produced by Chris Bender and J.C. Spink. There has been no cast announcements as of yet, but that will probably follow soon enough.
