New Face of Givenchy Not Who you Would Expect

The creative director of Givenchy made the announcement on Twitter Tuesday where he referred to Versace as his ultimate icon.

Versace tweeted, “For my talented friend Riccardo. Together we break fashion boundaries today! – DV’ FW 15”.

Givenchy hasn’t disappointed in their choices for who will be the face of their ad campaigns this year. They one-upped themselves from their spring 2015 campaign, which starred actress Julia Roberts.

Givenchy spoke to Style.com about choosing Julia Roberts, saying “I always start from my icons. The world is so fully of images, so fully of everything, if you don’t have an identity, it’s very difficult to find the point where you want to go.”

The tweet has already gained 270 retweets and 436 favorites.

This isn’t your typical collaboration. This is something that’s rarely ever been done in the fashion world, and it looks like it’s going to be great. Very rarely can designers say they’ve modeled for a different brand that could even be considered a competitor in the fashion world.

In the same interview, Givenchy described his image for the campaign, saying it would include, “a powerful woman, with sex appeal but at the same time with masculinity, which is my style.”

The campaign that Versace will be posing for is the family campaign. Not much has been said about the what to expect from the AW 15, but this collaboration can only mean bigger and better things from the designers.

A photo was posted along with the tweet, and people are speculating that it may be a hint towards what we can expect from the line

Versace wore heavy black eye makeup, and a black coat with floral print, some lace detailing and a popped collar. Riccardo Tisci wore a flannel, with a bit of scruff. Both were looking down, stoically.

In this photo shoot the designers weren’t the only ones participating in the fashion cross over.

The photo that was used to make the announcement was shot by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. They’ve photographed for Givenchy Spring/Summber 2015 ad campaign. They’ve also photographed for Versace Spring/Summer 2015, Versace Eros Pour Femme Fragrance 2015, and Versace Men Spring/Summer 2015 ads.

Their looks were styled by Carine Roitfeld, similar to Versace, was part of an ad campaign for Givenchy in 2013.

Not much else has been said about the campaign, Tisci left Twitter users with a teaser saying, “MORE TO COME SOON!”
