Schumer Bares All for a Worthy Cause

Many of you suited up in your orange attire yesterday in support of gun violence awareness. The internet was painted orange as most of you posted selfies with the hashtag #WearOrange. Comedian and Trainwreck star, Amy Schumer, posted a headless photo to Instagram yesterday wearing a pinkish orange, cheetah sports bra…and nothing else. And no. Not even a sunless spray tan to match.

Schumer is known for her crass humor and nonchalance among critics. She has made headlines in the past for her attire, or subsequent lack thereof. Shot for the 2016 Pirelli Calendar, photographer Annie Leibovitz captures Schumer wearing nothing but a pair of nude stilettos and lacy underwear in this studio portrait.

“Beautiful, gross, strong, thin, fat, pretty, ugly, sexy, disgusting, flawless, woman. Thank you Annie Leibovitz,” the comedian posts alongside the photo.

How often does America see models featured with a “tummy roll” or any resemblance of a body not meant for the confines of a double-zero gown? Schumer’s shoot was met with an outpour of fan devotion and appreciation. Just two days ago the comedian and real-sized model ‘regrammed’ a fan photo.

The compiled image compares Schumer to the Greek goddess, Aphrodite, who was known known for both her beauty and love. Schumer allowed her fans to see beautiful bodies come in all shapes and sizes. So, be proud. She now lends her body to the #WearOrange movement.

The now seemingly chronic nudist, Schumer, yet again uses the shock value of her naked body to bring attention to a cause she deems worthy of the bare-all photo. Her fearlessness towards the media’s critical eye serves the ultimate ‘greater good’, as Schumer sent a message to her 4.4 million Instagram followers yesterday. Wear orange. Or wear nothing. The voices of gun violence awareness must be heard.
