‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Creator Alex Kurtzman Signs Muti-Year Television Deal with CBS

Alex Kurtzman has reportedly signed a multi-year overall television deal with CBS. This new contract will allow his production company, Secret Hideout, to produce and/or develop new content with CBS for the next four years. Under the pact, CBS will also help fund Kurtzman’s production company as it develops new TV show projects and more.

Kurtzman’s new upcoming CBS series Star Trek: Discovery will be the first show produced and developed under his Secret Hideout banner. Kurtzman is the co-creator and executive producer of the new Star Trek revival series. Bryan Fuller, who is known for creating a few acclaimed series like Pushing Daisies and Hannibal, also acts as an executive producer and co-creator for Star Trek: Discovery.

The new CBS series was allegedly supposed to premiere during the early months of 2017. Although Star Trek: Discovery has been delayed and will debut on CBS All Access on May 2017.

The previous production company Kurtzman worked on was K/O Paper Products, who was also a collaboration with fellow producer Roberto Orci. The production company helped produce popular series like Hawaii Five-O, Scorpion, and Fox’s Sleepy Hollow, which were all renewed for new seasons and will continue to be produced under Kurtzman’s new banner Secret Hideout.

Heather Kadin, after the successful collaboration at K/O Paper Products, will serve as the President of Television at Secret Hideout production company. Kadin will also continue to act as an executive producer for shows Scorpion, Sleepy Hollow, and Star Trek: Discovery. Aaron Baiers, the former VP of Television at K/O Paper Products, will also act as VP of Television in the Secret Hideout production company and will also serve as a producer for the new Star Trek series.

Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin stated they are both happy with CBS’s support and creative teamwork collaborations. The two producers also stated that as Secret Hideout begins to produce and develop new content and properties as the landscape of television evolves, they are excited to be working alongside CBS for the next four years.
