Why you should Study Abroad

One of the many opportunities available in college is the option to study abroad. Study abroad programs allow students to visit foreign countries and still get an education. Studying abroad is a big choice and it can seem a little scary, but here are some reasons why it may be a good idea.

1. It creates connections

In an article by Mary M. Dwyer, Ph.D., and Courtney K. Peters, more than half of students who studied abroad are still friends with the other U.S. students they met during their time abroad, and 23% still have contact with their host families. These connections are truly special because they’re formed at a time when you’re finding out who you truly are. The people you meet while you’re studying abroad will always stand out in your memory.

When I'm not reading or writing, I'm taking care of a menagerie of animals including (but not limited to) goats, dogs, owls, snakes, turtles, and chickens.
