White House Meets Fashion

This week, First Lady Michelle Obama opened up the White House to the fashion elite as part of her Reach Higher initiative; a program that encourages young and aspiring fashion designers to achieve rewarding careers in the fashion industry. The First Lady invited everyone from Anna Wintour to Jenna Lyons (of course FLOTUS’s designer buddy Jason Wu was there) to speak to 150 cross-country fashion students.

“Here are some of the most interesting figures in fashion, you’re in the White House—and there’s food!” The First Lady joked, wearing a dress by Reach Higher competition winner—and FIT student—Natalya Koval.

Other notable guests included Phillip Lim, Diane von Furstenberg and Prabal Gurung. Check your Instagram feeds for a stylish taste of the event for yourself (there’s some pretty good ones!).
