Remedies to acne are quite challenging, depending on the type of acne you are suffering from. The acne process starts with a clogged pore. When dead skin cells and bacteria combine at the opening of a hair follicle, acne results. Acne is made up of acne pimples, pustules, papules, whiteheads, and blackheads.

Traditional acne treatments include acne medications like antibacterials and retinoids that can kill acne-causing bacteria (2WebMD). However, dermatologists also warn acne patients about acne medication side effects, including skin dryness, redness or irritation.

Strawberry Treatment

To use, all you need to do is dissolve 1 teaspoon of crushed strawberries into 2 cups of water and then refrigerate overnight. The following morning, apply this strawberry acne treatment gel onto your acne and leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.

Simply wash the face twice a day and then pat dry using no acne cleansers or acne toners as these acne treatments actually increase oil production in the skin even more. If there are existing pimples, try applying this acne home remedy for acne 3 times per day until they have gone completely away.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Scars

Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with 3 parts water. Wet a cotton ball and dip it in the solution. Gently wipe the acne-affected area (avoid getting it into your eyes).

Leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing off with cool water. Be sure to replace the soaked cotton ball with a new one every few minutes so that you don’t contaminate the ACV mixture with germs from your skin.

Before using this, do a spot test by applying the vinegar on your wrist or behind your ear and leave it for 24 hours (to make sure there are no allergic reactions). If you have sensitive skin, mix 50% white vinegar and 50% distilled water instead.

Lemon Juice Acne Treatment to Lighten Scars

Wash your face using a mild cleanser twice a day to remove acne-causing debris, dirt, and oil.

For acne scars with a darker hue or raised, you can apply lemon juice, which acts as a skin lightener. Just remember to only use the juice from half of the fresh lemon (don’t overdo it). The citric acid in the lemon will help lighten acne scars. Just apply the lemon juice on acne scars daily and leave it on for at least an hour before rinsing off with cool water.

Honey and Cinnamon Face Mask to Prevent Acne

Mix 1 teaspoon honey with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder. Just make sure the mixture is not too thick or too runny. Apply the acne-fighting acne-cinnamon mixture on your acne, wait for 30 minutes, and rinse off with cool water.

Use cinnamon powder and olive oil to exfoliate dead skin cells from dry, flaky skin (which can clog pores). Just mix 2 teaspoons of cinnamon powder and 2 teaspoons (or 4, depending on skin type) of olive oil into a thick paste. Apply over and wait for 20 minutes. Wash with cool water.

Mix 1 teaspoon of egg white with cool water to form a paste and apply it to your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. If you have sensitive skin, make sure you only use raw egg whites that have not been cooked or processed yet to avoid allergic reactions. You can also use store-bought pure egg white.

Apply the mixture on your face, wait 10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. You can also use raw honey as a spot treatment for pimples/acne instead of tea tree oil or benzoyl peroxide.

Try mixing oatmeal with enough facial cleanser (preferably one that contains salicylic acid) into a thick, somewhat grainy paste and scrub it on your face in circular motions for about 2 minutes until you see dead skin cells peeling off as you wash it off. Pat dry without rubbing the affected area of your face to prevent worsening acne!
