The 2014 CMT Awards were live from Nashville Wednesday night. This year, for the first time, Kristen Bell hosted by herself and shined. The show started out with a performance by ZZ top, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan, and Jason Derulo. Before Kristen took the stage, the boys from Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan re-enacted the Solange and Jay-Z elevator fight. The best thing about the country award shows is that they have fun poking fun at the ridiculous celebrity gossip. Bell then declared the Awards as ‘Ladies Night.’ Noting that the men of country wear extremely tight pants, she broke out into song about it. Singing, ‘boys were made to be free.’
The performance were not as energetic as those in the past, but were still fun to watch. The best performances of the night were by far Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, singing their new song ‘Something Bad.’ (what’s better than two fierce country chicks in one song?), Lady Antebellum singing their new single ‘Bartender,’ and John Legend singing ‘All of Me’ with the help of Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland and Hunter Hayes.
