3 Moisturizers Necessary for Oily Skin

By  |  0 Comments

It might sound a little odd to moisturize oily skin. You may think ur skin has enough moisture with all of its oil. Especially because too much moisture will clog pores and possibly increase your skin’s oil production, which leads to dreaded breakouts.

But the truth is that certain oils in skincare products will help reduce sebum production and give skin a better texture with the proper use of certain types of oils.

Elle asked Audrey Kunin, board-certified dermatologist and founder of DERMAdoctor, what we should look for when it comes to moisturizers for oily skin, in a 2018 report.“Regardless of skin type, your moisturizer label should say it’s non-comedogenic, meaning it will not plug pores or trigger acne,” says Dr. Kunin. “This is especially important if you tend to have oily skin.”

According to the Elle 2018 report, Dr. Kunin notes oily skin types should avoid products bases loaded with silicones or ointments, or balm-like heavy creams which clog pores and increase oil production. She also recommends looking for more from your skincare. Every skincare product you apply should offer additional benefits, not simply hydration.
