Everyone wants flawless skin. There’s nothing worse than waking up in the morning and having a face that resembles a pepperoni pizza. It’s frustrating and upsetting, but don’t worry, with these tricks, that agitated, uneven skin won’t stand a chance!

1. Exfoliate, Please!

Exfoliating skin is one of the easiest ways to rejuvenate skin and clear breakouts. People that are more likely to develop acne tend to shed old skin in an inefficient way. According to Sonya Dakar Skin Clinic, excess skin clogs up pores and hair follicles if not removed, which causes blemishes. The quicker the skin is eliminated, the quicker one can improve their complexion.

2. Moisturize After That Long, Hot Shower

The body is most hydrated right after stepping out of the shower. It’s one of the only times during the day when the pores are completely open and capable of absorbing large amounts of moisturizer. Applying cream to the face within three minutes of exiting the bath or shower can decrease the chances of developing dry, flaky skin, according to How Stuff Works. Lather up before it’s too late!

3. Don’t Overdo It

People with oily skin are inclined to think that scrubbing more and moisturizing less will reduce the grease and fight off zits. Well, Teen Vogue reports that this isn’t always the case. Skin is sensitive, so scrubbing it too much and too often can actually irritate it. Exfoliating once a day should suffice, and moisturizing with oil-free products, or ones that contain non-comedogenic oil, should bring about the perfect balance.

4. Makeup Brushes Need Cleaning, Too!

Makeup is something that most women use multiple times every single day. A little bit here and a little bit there; it’s a necessity that most can’t escape. Along with this inevitability comes a big responsibility – clean those makeup brushes! The dirt and grime that build up over time in the bristles is not exactly nourishing. Experts say that cleaning the brushes once a month should be sufficient, so there is no excuse to not have them spick-and-span.
