MyFitnessPal surveyed its 50 million users, aiming to finding out why so many people feel that they cannot reach their ultimate goal weight. If you’re finding that your weight is stuck in the same spot, try some of these tips from MyFitnessPal’s registered Dietician, Elle Penner, as she reveals the main reasons why your weight isn’t moving.
Too Many Desserts. The major obstacle that users found to be standing in the way of reaching their goal weight was too much snacking on dessert foods. While it’s not a bad idea to have snack size dessert foods, having only a few of these treats add up quickly; pretty soon you’re eating the full size dessert! Try remembering this next time you take a handful of “bite size” Snickers.
Not Enough Veggies. Nearly 1 in 10 people admitted that they do not eat enough vegetables. Having your fruits and vegetables servings earlier in the day, in the form of a smoothie may help you get in all of your daily recommended servings. Having them earlier gets them out of the way, rather than scrambling for them later on.
Carbs! It’s so hard to stay on your diet when pasta and carb-infested foods are constantly taunting you. When you slip up, and have too many carbs for the day, try pushing weight loss back. Instead of trying to lose weight, just try to maintain it (especially when life gets too stressful). Pick up where you left off with your diet when you’re more committed to the effort.
Binge Eating. Binges tend to come from negative mood disruptions, or boredom. A simple way to help fix this is to get super excited over something fitness-related. Buying new workout shoes or yoga pants can help you get pumped to use them, and helps you focus more on your diet than on food.
Not Enough Time. Not having enough time to cook or exercise can be detrimental to your diet. Combat that with the foods your are buying. Instead of buying comfort, packaged foods, try stocking up on more fruits, veggies, and canned goods that are quick to heat, and more affordable.
Don’t get discouraged if you’re hitting obstacles on your way to reaching your dream weight. See if any of these trends exist in your diet, and try heeding to these tips. You may find that getting back on track was easier than you thought!
