5 Things to Know About Caitlyn Jenner’s Mother

While we all know Caitlyn Jenner is beginning a new part of her life, there’s no shred of doubt that her mother, Esther Jenner, is fully supportive. People who watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians have met Esther on different episodes, but we truly get to meet her in the first season of the new docu-series I Am Cait.

The premire of the show on Sunday revealed how proud Esther is of her new daughter and how the love she has for her child hasn’t diminished, saying,

“I love him with all my heart. And I certainly love her with all my heart.”

Here are five things we learned about Esther within only the first episode!

1. Family Over Everything

Since Caitlyn’s transition, Esther has been a lot closer with the Kardashian/Jenner family. Within the first episode, we witness Esther having a rare meeting with Kanye West as well as giving her granddaughter Kylie Jenner a photo of herself when she was only seventeen.

2. ESPYs Date

Before accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage award, Jenner wanted to sit with her mother and always have her close. Caitlyn revealed in her speech that a lot of the courage and determination she had recently can easily be credited to Esther.

3. In It For the Money?

Even Esther had doubts about Caitlyn’s sudden transition, asking herself,

“Why is it necessary to go through all these surgeries? Is this all about making money? And that was bothering me. He’s lived a life the last 25 years—and I don’t know if it was both he and Kris or mainly Kris—it seemed like their lifestyle was about money; that’s why it came to my mind.”

Now, we can all see that was not the case for Caitlyn.

4. Name Game

Although Esther is completely comfortable with Caitlyn’s transition, she often finds herself calling her child “Bruce.” Shortly after the Vanity Fair cover came out, Esther told Access Hollywood, “I still have to call him Bruce. His father and I named him that. It’s going to be a struggle for me to get used to the change, but happily so…I’m very happy for him—or her!”

5. Even Prouder Mom

This short clip shows Esther explaining how proud she was when her child won the Olympic Gold Medal, but now she’s even more proud to call Caitlyn her daughter.
