College and High School students: hang in there it’s almost the end! Whether you have a week left or a month left, the only thing standing between you and summer vacation is finals week. Final’s week is nobody’s favorite week, but it’s manageable as long as you get yourself in the right mind set.
Make flash cards and a study guide– Look over the notes you have for the test. First, it helps to ask yourself: what will be on the test? Did your teacher or professor give you a study guide of materials you should know? If you have definitions to memorize, make flashcards! This way, when you have a free minute you can ask your friends and family to quiz you. Write out all the information you need to know on an organized study sheet. Sometimes it helps you memorize it just by writing it down.- You can make all the study cards you want, but if you don’t set aside the time to actually study them, what was the point? Studies show that the best memorization occurs in those that study for short spans over a long period. If your test is next week, study 30 minutes per night.
Set aside the time– You can make all the study cards you want, but if you don’t set aside the time to actually study them, what was the point? Studies show that the best memorization occurs in those that study for short spans over a long period. If your test is next week, study 30 minutes per night.
Cut out all distractions- If you set aside two hours to study, you won’t get much done if you keep checking Facebook and Instagram every 10 minutes. Constantly checking social media will only break your focus. Plus, you’ll have all summer to waste time on social media sites. Now, it’s crunch time.
Get a study buddy– Having a study buddy makes learning the material more fun and holds you accountable for actually studying!
Don’t stress- Remember: prepare as much as possible, but don’t stress. Becoming too stressed can actually cause you to forget some of the material you’ve learned. Worrying leads you to believe you don’t actually know as much as you do. Think to yourself: what’s the worst that can happen? Take a deep breath and do your best.
Take it easy before test day and on the day of the test- The night before the test, you’ve studied all that you possibly can. Cramming is not a good solution. Take it easy and rest up before.
