The owner and star of Happy Gilmore Productions, actor, Adam Sandler signed a four picture deal with Netflix this week.
Happy Madison Productions, created in 1999 by Adam Sandler took on its name from two of Adams movies, Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison. The company has created over 25 movie since its inception. Unfortunately, most of them welcomed mixed reviews in the box office.
The funny man and former SNL alum said this about the deal with Netflix;
“When these fine people came to me with an offer to make for movies for them, I said yes for one reason, and one reason only… Netflix rhymes with wet chicks, let the steaming begin!”
Well, the stats are in and people are just as excited about this deal as Adam is…. The Reason? Adam hasn’t made movie magic in five years. That doesn’t mean he hasn’t made any films, he’s made 11 movies with his company. Producing and writing all of them.His most recent box office success was “Funny People” created with Judd Apatow. Since it’s release in 2009 Rotten Tomatoes hasen’t given Adam any higher than a 50% rating.
But perhaps, this this union will be successful for both parties. Netflix has high hopes for Adam;
“He is one of the few actors in the world was films consistently rank among the most viewed by Netflix members.”
Congrats to Adam and Netflix. May you journey be a smooth one.
