Alexander McQueen’s New Ads Are Haunting

Alexander McQueen’s fall 2014 ads take high fashion to an eerie new level.

The new ads have been released and have a haunted tone to them. McQueen worked with model Edie Campbell and photographer Steven Klein to create the photos for his new line.

The photos, although elegant, feature dark backgrounds and pale models.

According to Fashion Times, Alexander McQueen said the inspiration for his new collection was “A wild, romantic beauty. Beauty and The Beast, Forest undergrowth, flora and nocturnal fauna: roses, ivy, oaks trees, moths, owls.”

All of these things can be seen within the five images from the new line.

The photos feature Campbell looking ghostly pale in well-fitted gowns, draping herself over various pieces of equally dark furniture in what appears to be a run-down house. Throughout the photo set, animals like a horse or “The Beast” are featured and sometimes blended into the background. Other times they are used as props for Campbell.

Alexander McQueen told Vogue Italia, “The advertising campaign captures the narrative and essence of the romantic and wild beauty of the AW14 runway show.”

According to Women’s Wear Daily, these images will be available in, “American, British and Italian Vogue; Love; Another Magazine; American and British Harper’s Bazaar; Interview; Vanity Fair, and W magazine.”
