Every year, fashion label Alice + Olivia partners with the CFDA Initiative, a program that encourages young talent in the fashion design industry. Together, the two choose one artist each year to create a capsule collection that celebrates and promotes fashion talent across the country.
This year, Alice + Olivia’s chosen artist is the late Jean-Michel Basquiat, who was known for his street and neo-expressionist art.
The collaboration is working through Basquiat’s estate, using inspiration from pieces such as “Panel of Experts,” “Beat Bop,” and “Replicas.” Along with the iconic golden crown motif present in Basquiat’s art, Alice + Olivia bring their trademark feminine twist by adding beadwork and embroidery to the artwork.
The collection will appear in stores and online in November. Half of all proceeds will be given to the CFDA.
