Just one day after winning the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, Joseph Altuzarra was diligently presenting his latest collection. The label’s Resort 2015 collection was flawlessly finalized, with signature designs and noticeable features that lead critics to conclude that the designer has especially perfected the art of the pencil skirt. While the skirts are in the latest collection, the highlight of the collection is geared more towards the designer’s new shoe collection, showcasing luxurious designs such as snakeskin sandals and flats, intricate rope play with pumps, and black bow accents. However, that’s not the only focus. Tailored cotton pea coats with bold color contrasts are seen throughout the collection. Embroidered blouses with playful gold sequin embellishments, and chic cream, black, and deep red dresses for nights out also appeared in the collection, with braided tassels and decorated shoulder accents.

The overall mood of the collection is one of power and sophistication – mixed with a little bit of sexy-sailor-girl-meets-businesswoman. The black, white, and navy colors are all heavily played in the collection, along with rope and chain prints, buttons, and cowls. While the pieces are simple with a fun spin on navy and professional designs, the most clear aspect of each and everyone of the pieces, from shoes, to skirts, to even the scarves, is the detail emphasized in the line work and stitching. The line emanates impeccable, high quality work, that every woman needs in her life. Open the gallery below to see the rest of the collection.
