American Sniper, Starring Bradley Cooper

A short trailer has been released of Clint Eastwood’s new film, American Sniper, starring Bradley Cooper. The film revolves around the life of ex-Navy SEAL sniper Chief Chris Kyle who is known as the most lethal sniper in US history with 160 confirmed kills.

The story fallows the memoir of Chris Kyle, 38, American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History, which spent 13 weeks on the bestseller list.

The trailer shows, Cooper, 39, gun in hand, eye to the scope, debating further actions against potential assailants. When a woman and a young boy exit a building, audiences see the woman hand the boy a grenade, forcing Kyle to make a choice whether to let him live or shoot to kill. The film brings the real world to life, about what it was like for Kyle as a Navy SEAL sniper overseas. Kyle did four tours before settling down into civilian life with wife Taya Ranae Kyle, played by Sienna Millier, though it was shortly lived.

While at a shooting range in Texas, in February 2013, Kyle and friend Chad Littlefield, 35, were murdered by Eddie Ray Routh, 25, of Lancaster. Kyle was said to be assisting Routh with the transition home. Reports indicate that the weapon, a semi automatic handgun was discovered at Routh’s home and he was supposedly suffering from PTSD, though no metical evidence has been brought forward.

Training with Navy SEALs, Cooper gained 40 pounds to be right for the part. Cooper wanted to demonstrate his determination to the plot and getting Kyle’s story accurate and out there for the world to see. Cooper was able to have a phone conversation with the military hero prior to his death.  Cooper states in an interview via USA Today, “Thank God I got to talk to him once on the phone,” says Cooper, who is a producer and plays Kyle in the film. “It was a very quick conversation. But I did tell him how serious I was about making this movie. And he should just know that whatever fears he had about Hollywood, to just put them aside and trust me. That I was going to do everything I could to tell this story.”

American Sniper, is set to be released December 25,2014.
