Since Meghan Markle has become her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex, the world has been waiting with baited breath to see all of her sartorial choices as a royal. In many ways, the Duchess of Sussex has not disappointed, as many of her outfits have been hailed as being interesting, sleek, and glamorous.
Markle, of course, looked stunning on her wedding day in an off- the shoulder Givenchy wedding gown designed by Clare Waight Keller. However, she was seen wearing a piece from the French fashion house again earlier this month. This time, while running official errands with the Queen, the Duchess could be seen wearing a slim, off-white dress; its most defining feature being the tailored shell that covered the shoulders.
But, more recently, another well-known woman was seen wearing something similar to another royal event. Angelina Jolie attended the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George service, a ceremony that officially recognizes achievements made by those not in the military.
Photographed in London at Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Jolie wore a cream-colored Ralph and Russo dress, which also had some shoulder-centric detail. The number was also off-white, slim in silhouette and had three-quarter sleeves. In her case, the dress exposed some shoulder, which has already hailed many comparisons to Markle’s wedding dress.
It should be noted that Ralph and Russo also seem to be a favorite of the Duchess. She wore an eye-catching, beaded dress for her engagement photos with Prince Harry. That outfit, which reportedly had a more exposed effect, as the top was made with a transparent mesh, and thus attracted a lot of media attention when the photos were first released.
However, Jolie’s custom-made dress was of more modest stock. She chose to accessorize with a gold brooch, a matching fascinator, and gloves, as well as a silver purse. Some outlets, like Vogue, have been quick note the obvious inspiration taken from figures like Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton. But, the brand and shoulder details, of course, draw more obvious comparisons to Markle.
Although, one thing is for sure; it would seem that Miss Jolie has proven to be quite adept at royal fashion herself.
