Warner Brothers has recently released the first teaser trailer for new horror film Annabelle 2. The terrifying doll has never looked so sinister while dining with her victims at a tea party.
On October 2015 the studio made it official that they planned to make a sequel of the popular 2014 Annabelle film. The Annabelle doll character is based off of the real-life haunted doll that is owned by Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were paranormal investigators in the past.
Annabelle 2 is directed by David F. Sandburg, who is known for writing and directing the low-budget horror film Lights Out. The screenplay was written by Gary Dauberman, who also wrote the original screenplay to Annabelle. James Wan, the director and producer of 2011’s Insidious and also director to The Conjuring film series, was involved as a producer with Peter Safran.
Peter Safran has recently worked as a producer for 2016’s The Choice film, which is based off of a popular novel by Nicholas Sparks.
Annabelle, which was a spinoff film to 2013’s The Conjuring, grossed over 256 million dollars in theaters worldwide. Annabelle’s overall budget was only 6.5 million dollars.
The plotline for the new film centers around a doll maker and his wife, who previously lost their daughter twenty years ago. When the decide to open their home to a nun and a group of girls from an orphanage, the doll makers possessed doll Annabelle terrorizes the young girls and turns the doll makers home into a nightmare.
The film stars Talitha Bateman, Stephanie Sigman, Miranda Otto, Anthony LaPaglia, and Lulu Wilson. The new film is distributed by Warner Brothers, but the film’s production was handled by New Line Cinema, The Safran Company, and Atomic Monster production company.
Annabelle 2 reportedly started filming on June 27th 2016 in Los Angeles, California. The film just recently concluded their filming stage on August 15th 2016.
Annabelle 2 is expected to hit theaters on May 17th 2017.
