While a fairly new fashion line, Apiece Apart, only two years old, is bringing the fashion industry back to basics. Laura Cramer and Starr Hout, founders of the baby designer label, are already preparing to showcase their very first resort collection, and it’s proof that age really doesn’t matter.
The collection was inspired by Cy Twomgly’s Italian studio, highlighting a theme of cropped tanks, slim pants, and mid-lengths. Also included in the collection is a topcoat with shorts, silk faille, and hexagon prints, along with other geometric-shaped patterns. The assortment honors the artists work, particularly reminiscent of his floor tile designs.
The clothes themselves have shapes that are very blunt and abrupt in terms of their silhouette and structure. Rather than flowing, soft materials, the pieces almost have a boxy, flat, and almost two-dimensional feel in the way in which they appear to fit and fall on the body. That’s not to say that they haven’t out done themselves – it’s just a completely different take on a resort collection, making it stand out in an eccentric and uncommon way.
