Relativity films has recently announced to develop a reboot of the cult classic film The Crow. The new film is set to star Jason Momoa, who is going to be starring in the Warner Brother’s DC film series as Aquaman.
Corin Hardy is expected to be directing the new film. The Crow is based on a comic series by the same name, with a previous 1994 film starring Brandon Lee. During the set of The Crow Lee met an untimely death during a shooting scene, only eight days before production wrapped up. The Crow became a sleeper hit with the box office, earning over 50 million dollars for a relatively low-budgeted film.
The Crow is about a young musician who dies after trying to save his fiancé and brought back to life by a supernatural force to enact revenge.
Relative Media has been trying to develop The Crow reboot since 2012, but haven’t had any push to get the project moving forward until this year. The film has tried to attach actors like Bradly Cooper, Luke Evans, Norman Reeds, Tom Hiddleston, and Jack Hudson but the studio was unable to sign them as the lead actor.
The Crow is set to be filmed before Jason Momoa’s emergence as Aquaman in the upcoming Warner Brother’s Justice League film. So unfortunately for Momoa’s filming schedule, he is going to be busy on two filming production sets around the same time. The Justice League part 1 is expected to have actress Amanda Heard as Mera, Aquaman’s love interest. James Wan, who directed The Conjuring films, is also set to be the director for the upcoming DC Universe film.
Jason Moma is also set to be involved in the new Netflix film Braven. Momoa is going to be playing a logger on the US/Canadian border who has to protect his family from drug smugglers.
The Crow is presumed to be released around 2018.
