It’s been a long-standing rumor that Anna Wintour, the iconic editor-in-chief of Vogue, will be stepping down from her 30-year presence at the helm of the publication. However, these speculations have been refuted by multiple sources, such as Conde Nast themselves.
However, amid this speculation, many sources have been quick to point out that if the editrix is planning on retiring; this will be her final September issue. Anyone who follows fashion knows that Vogue’s September issue is among the most highly-anticipated publications of the entire year. Thus, whoever is on the cover gains equal attention.
Just who may grace the cover of Wintour’s (speculated) final September issue? None other than the Queen Bee herself; Beyoncé. Numerous sources have said that Beyoncé, having been the cover girl for the September issue of 2015 as well as other issues in 2013 and 2009, will be Wintour’s last cover girl.
The photographer this time around will Tyler Mitchell. Last time, Beyoncé was photographed by Mario Testino and there was no corresponding interview in that issue. However, if she is, in fact, this September’s cover girl; we have no way of knowing if the singer will be doing an interview this time around.
However, one has to wonder why it is that the rumors of Wintour’s departure persist. Within the last year, the world has witnessed the retirement/departure of numerous well-known names in the world of journalism; such as Graydon Carter from Vanity Fair, Cindy Lieve of Glamour, and Alexandra Shulman of British Vogue. It could be that this sudden onslaught of rapid changes has led many to speculate about the future of Vogue.
