Bangs Buzz: Bey’s New Look

By  |  1 Comment

Over the last few months, the Queen of Everything (obviously Beyoncé) has been experimenting a lot with her luxurious tresses. From the curly bob she has been infrequently rocking, to the floor-cascading locks she donned for her CR Fashion Book Photo Shoot last month, Bey knows how to work a (ridiculously expensive, no doubt) fabulous weave. Unfortunately, not everyone seems to feel this way about her most recent look. With long golden hair, and super short bangs, even some of the most devoted members of the beyhive are feeling the sting from this beauty look.

Reminiscent of the bangs pin-up star Bettie Page made famous in the 1950s, but much shorter, Beyoncé’s look has had social media brewing with jokes and other not so supportive comments (like congratulating Blue Ivy on her hair-cutting skills). But the more that Bey is photographed rocking her fierce fringe (and smiling through the negativity, she knows she’s awesome), the more her look grows on me.

Maybe it’s because she is Beyoncé and therefore gets some sort of free pass for any public/beauty slip-ups, or maybe it’s because her bangs actually do not look that bad. Yes, they are short. Yes, they are not the “typical” bangs most women sport. But, need I remind you, Beyoncé does not start trends, she makes them—usually with the whole world following in her flawless path. And though everyone may be snickering at her look now, it is more than doubtful that the trendy women of the world will not follow in her glorious hair steps.
