The “Human Barbie” refers to Valeria Lukyanova. A Russian woman who underwent extensive plastic surgery that eventually made her appearance strikingly similar to that of a barbie doll. Ever since, her pictures have circulated throughout the internet and various companies have hired her for her freakish appearance.
Lukyanova, however, prefers to refer to her new persona as “Amatue”, a name that she claims appeared to her in a dream. Lukyanova, or Amatue or barbie or what have you, is perhaps most notorious for her denunciation of mixing races. She promotes the most narrow vision of beauty, often reminiscing on the 50s and 60s, a time when the white race did not mix.
The “Human Ken” refers to Justin Jedlica who also freakishly resembles a doll. Thanks to supposedly over 100 cosmetic surgeries, Jedlica looks very much like barbie’s counter-part, Ken. He is a self-proclaimed “artist” and “pioneer” even, with plans to continue his surgeries. He asserts that his actions demonstrate the capacity that man has to change his appearance.
So who’s weirder? Well it’s a very, very close call. These two people lived separately without any sort of influence on one another for years. Naturally, the public was eager to observe how they would interact. Well, it turns out Jedlica was unimpressed with Lukyanova. He stated that he could not understand why people are so fascinated with her, as she is just a compilation of hair extensions and heavy make-up. He compared her drastic measures to those undergone by drag queens. Yet Jedlica still declares that he finds her “beautiful”. Perhaps, then, there is hope for America’s most iconic couple, they certainly deserve each other. Human Barbie and Ken – Perfect Match in Heaven?
