Few people know that the Executive Producer and fellow Host of, “The View and renowned Journalist, Barbra Walters, is a Breast Cancer survivor.
Walters, 85, (and still looking good) spoke Thursday, at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation event. She was asked to give a speech, by which she revealed her own close encounter with the deadly and devastating disease.
“Some years back, more than five now, I discovered a small lump in my own breast. Under the expert care of [my doctor] I had a lumpectomy,” Walters stated in her speech. “I haven’t talked about it. There was no need to. There were other choices that were possible. This was mine. I told a few people and I’m fine.”
The journalist claims that her treatment would not have been possible without advances of cancer research, that has saved the lives of millions.
“I knew the advances that had been made in treating breast cancer, including lumpectomies when possible. I can remember when such treatments were not available,” she states. “Research made my treatment possible.”
Walters has had no repercussions to date.
