Sunny Days: Your Beach Bag Essentials

It’s always sunny somewhere around the globe. Everyone has their chosen beach bag with everything they need for a day by the ocean. You may like Ray-Bans over Elizabeth James tortoiseshell sunglasses or Baked Lays over Doritos. You may bring sunscreen, or you may bring a self-tanner. Going to the beach for a day isn’t like bringing your favorite purse to the mall, we need to prepare for the elements here. Ladies need the basics and the extras, like SPF 50 and Jergen’s Natural Glow. Here is your list of summer beach essentials, (besides your phone) so you won’t forget a thing while stocking your tote.

1. Sunscreen. SPF 50 please, and no excuses. We don’t have it if you “never burn”.

 2. Self-Tanner. This is for those of us who only burn and never tan. This will give you the sun-kissed effect without appearing fake.

 3. Face Mist. This is a bit of a luxury, but oh so nice when you’ve been sitting in the sun for over an hour.

 4. Lip Balm. When you’ve been in the ocean the salt tends to dry out your skin, including your lips. Keep them hydrated and healthy with a good lip balm.

 5. The proper magazines: Elle, Vogue, Cosmopolitan. Whatever you can stuff inside. Maybe, The New Yorker or an intelligent book?

 6. Water. The ocean isn’t doing you any favors. If you don’t like the taste of plain water, sweeten it by adding berries, lemon, or cucumber.

 7. Snacks. Keep it simple at the beach. Sweet or salty? Buzzfeed has your back for beach picnicking. Bring Tupperware, or be even better, use Mason Jars.

 8. Hair Oil. Always protect your hair from the sun and salt. If your hair tends to be greasy, use an oil-free product.

 9. If you’re bringing makeup to the beach, make sure your mascara is waterproof and your eye makeup is minimal. Your foundation should be light as well, so you don’t get patches wearing off after you’ve been in the water.
