Blogger, journalist and freelancing reporter, Esther Honig, shines a light on how the standards of unattainable beauty vary. While working on a small start up as a media manager, Honig came up with a before and after segment to further examine this revelation.
To set up this endeavor, Honig used freelancing platforms, like Fiverr, to contract 40 individuals from over 25 countries. “Make me beautiful,” is all she requested. Below are the results of this controversial project. Each image is supposed to reflect the cultural concepts of beauty that relate to their maker.
Photoshop allows anyone to attain an illusion of unobtainable beauty. Honig looked into this concept further by looking at it from a global scale, trying to prove the ambiguity of what beauty really means and how it differs from country to country.
