Benicio del Toro is reportedly discussing the possibility of staring in the upcoming “Predator” reboot movie by Fox.
Shane Black is set to direct the new film and Fred Dekker is also expected to write the film’s screenplay. The original 1987 blockbuster film Predator was produced by John Davis, Lawrence Gordon, and Joel Silver. Davis, Gordon, and Silver are expected to be involved in the new reboot film as producers again. Shane Black and the past three Predator producers are hoping to start filming the reboot movie next year.
There has been no information yet of the new “The Predator” film plot or storyline. The original Predator film was directed by John McTiernan and only had an overall 15-million-dollar budget. The film starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura, and Carl Weathers as commandos who are stalked in the jungle by a defensive alien creature.
Shane Black is known for writing the hit action film Lethal Weapon and also in the past starred in the 1987 Predator film as character Rick Hawkins. His first directing debut was with his film Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which he also acted as the film’s screenplay writer. Recently Black has also acted as the main writer and director of The Nice Guys, which starred Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.
Fox has recently tried to release a predator reboot film with 2010’s Predators, which was produced by Robot Rodriguez. Predators was rumored to have a potential sequel after the film’s successful box office sales and was assigned to be written and directed by Shane Black in 2014. Although in a 2015 interview with producer John Davis commented that Fox plans to drop the Predators sequel and plans to reinvent the Predator franchise with another reboot film.
Del Toro has recently been seen in 2015’s film Sicario and is also expected to be seen in 2017’s Star Wars: Episode VIII film.
