Bill Blass is set to get back in design mode after two years of closure. The American heritage label will release a spring/summer 2016 for the men’s and women’s collection under newly appointed president and COO Stuart M Goldblatt – formerly of Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.
Good news as the above needs to be followed by great supporting elements. Now the label has fired up its engines, the COO buckled up, and one more important person is yet to be decided to take cover the driver’s seat. Take a guess!
You are right! The creative director to helm the Blass rebirth has not yet been named, so to any young designer in the market for creative directorship bonne chance.
Bill Blass came to live in the ‘40s when William Ralph Blass began designing, but the label rose to prominence throughout the Seventies and Eighties. Famed for his colorful take on American sportswear, Blass dressed some of the great beauties of the day – from Jacqueline Kennedy to Gloria Vanderbilt.
The label closed in 2012 and will be back in 2016. Until then we will patiently wait.
