Simple Style: Body Jewelry

When worn in the right context, and with the right dress, body jewelry can be beautiful and classy. This trend, best exemplified by the brand Free People, is particular to bohemian style, or fake bohemian style. From armlets to cuffs to armbands and body chains, body jewelry should be either delicate or a single statement piece.

The problem with body jewelry is the immediate representation of the wearer. A snake armband can only mean that person is “boho” and “probably went to Coachella at least once”. How can we avoid the cheapened version of the very stylish bohemian look?

The key is being minimalist with body jewelry. The models decked out in multiple anklets are meant to showcase the jewelry, but this isn’t practical for everyday wear.  Just imagine that anklet getting caught on some random girl’s stiletto at a crowded bar. Wear a single armlet or cuff at a party, and keep the rest of your jewelry simple.
