The beauty world is no less susceptible to changing trends than is the world of clothing. In recent years, makeup trends have undergone a variety of changes. Winged eyeliner and matte lipsticks have been some of the reigning standards for a while now, and they don’t seem to be going anywhere. However, within the last year alone, many new makeup trends including colorful eyeshadow, lipgloss, and even eye-glosses have emerged.
As a new season approaches, numerous media outlets have started to report on the latest fall trends. One beauty trend, in particular, will most likely become very prominent in the upcoming seasons. A hallmark of the 2000s has been spotted recently: glittery eyeshadow.
Both Marc Jacobs and Ulla Johnson have used glittery eyeshadow on their runway models recently. This time around, the glitter seems to be quite pigmented and thickly packed on.
Celebrity makeup artist Hector Espinal stated:
“We’re going back into the early 2000s, late ‘90s, where everybody was wearing silver and gold [makeup] no matter the season. There’s definitely a metallic trend that’s about to rise.”
Whether you prefer to apply metallic liquid eyeshadow or to pack on actual glitter with an adhesive primer, now may be the perfect time to begin experimenting with the bold trend.
As Diane Kendal, makeup artist for Marc Jacobs stated, “Shimmer and glitter will be the beauty trend of this season.”
