Chanel has joined forces with the ever-trendy Sarah Jessica Parker in the brand’s latest efforts to bring back the fanny pack. Now, try to remain calm, because this pack is not your average shiny material, too many pouches, dad-on-vacation style. Instead, Chanel has crafted a chic, slim, and (dare we say) covetable design—something that looks more like a clutch bag for your waist, rather than a fashion abomination.
SJP paired her black, double-C emblazoned “pack” with everything from jeans and a striped tee during the day, to a tweed and black ensemble for evening. So the real question here is, will fanny packs reemerge in a slimmer, more stylish silhouette? Or will Chanel have a one-of-a-kind accessory that only women as sartorially blessed as Carrie Bradshaw herself can pull off (without looking certifiably insane)? We cannot foresee the future of fashion, but we can see that Chanel has undoubtedly gotten it right with their voguish interpretation of a taboo fashion blight (possibly turned trend?).
