Burberry To Introduce Riccardo Tisci with Exclusive Drops

Burberry, the brand known for its iconic plaid motif, is a staple of British fashion. It’s no surprise then that since the brand has announced a switch in creative directorship, the fashion world has been a flutter. Burberry has newly appointed Riccardo Tisci, formerly of Givenchy, to head the brand.

Tisci has already made a name for himself within the fashion world. As a creative director for Givenchy, Tisci earned a reputation for being somewhat of streetwear champion. In many ways, his arrival at the polished British brand may signal a shift in its aesthetic history.

Tisci has yet to make his debut, his first show is set to be during London Fashion Week in September. However, this release may mark the beginning of a much more streetwear-centric look for the British brand.

Like many streetwear brands, Burberry plans to adopt a drops release strategy for Tisci’s debut. The strategy involves releasing limited edition pieces as part of several unique product initiatives. These will be scheduled to come out after runway shows.

Overall, this strategy will perhaps be the official transition for the brand. Unlike most high fashion houses, which only debut collections at shows and release them to retailers months later, this method allows for faster gratification among consumers. Thus fostering a better relationship with them.

Tisci, who has already planned a collaboration between Burberry and Vivienne Westwood, will be releasing these pieces in September; following his London fashion show. Any further information will be made available then.
