Celebrating 10 Years of The Notebook

Gifs and quotes circled the internet on June 25^th as fans commemorated the anniversary of The Notebook which came out in 2004. The Notebook is still trending, even 10 years later. The love story features actors Ryan Gosling (Noah) and Rachel McAdams (Allie) who fall in love, but due to circumstances, were separated and eventually find their way back to each other. This ends in not-so-cheery circumstances. For the anniversary, the audition tape of Rachel McAdams for Allie has been circling the internet. It featured Allie explaining to Noah that she had to go back home, which leads to an argument and Noah asking Allie to stay with him. This heart wrenching scene is performed by McAdams, and someone off camera reading as the role of Noah. Nick Cassavetes made a comment on McAdam’s audition, saying, “When McAdams came in and read, it was apparent that she was ‘the one’.” This was a relief to both Cassavetes and Gosling who had trouble finding the actress. Unless you’ve never seen the movie, the film has to have made you want to cry while watching it, if not causing you to outright sob on your couch. While many reflected fondly with things like the most quotable references from the movie, others were not so happy about it, even 10 years later. There were also some who were still unhappy about the film, and chose the anniversary of it to spoil the fun for other fans. If you’re feeling a little nostalgic for their love story, it’s not too late to go check out the movie on iTunes, it’s not on Netflix, I checked. Remember to get a box of tissues and some ice cream before you hit play, though.
