How excited were you to find out that Miley Cyrus and Max Azria teamed up to produce a clothing line that was promised to turn heads? Oh, what’s that – you’ve never heard of such a thing? Probably because it failed before it ever really took off. The fail of all fails. The line was sold in Walmart between 2009 and 2012, but the dynamic duo’s designs had little to no triumph.

You may not be familiar with Kanye West’s line “Pastelle,” either. Surprisingly so, the artist’s supposed passion for fashion fell short of the spotlight in 2009. Claiming to be to be a designer before a rapper, West put his fans’ high expectations to shame when his glorified clothing line proved to be anything but that.
Maybe these celebrity lines suffered after following in the footsteps of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen and the 2007 launch of their fashion line, named Elizabeth and James. Many were skeptical, as the Olsen twins have not always been the most credible people. After the debut, however, the cynics stood — and still stand — corrected, as the twins have created a successful line that grows day in and day out.

“We wanted it to be based on a relationship between a young girl and a boy and tell the story through clothing,” Mary Kate told WWD as she described the line’s eclectic feel.
There’s no telling why some celebrities are able to pull it off, while others aren’t, but maybe it’s a sign to stick to your one, specified talent – unless you really do have two – then feel free to go for it.
