The fact that Applegate had 30 brain lesions—”sores all over my brain,” she said, the biggest of which was behind her right eye and caused her a great deal of pain—and the fact that she was unable to overcome them both served to emphasise the seriousness of her situation.
She went on to detail how the lesions make her feel anxious and in continual discomfort, highlighting how they affect her day-to-day existence.
