Come to The Dark Side, the Star War’s Themed Pop-Up Bar

In honor of The Last Jedi, the next installment in the Star War’s saga, a Star War’s themed pop-up bar called The Dark Side will be opening for a limited time in three separate locations: New York City, Washington D.C., and Hollywood, California.

While most fans might have expected the Star War’s themed bar to be similar to the intergalactic cantina depicted in the films (opportunity missed), The Dark Side will instead be themed after the more villainous aspects of the series and will be decorated all in black and neon red. So grab your fellow Sith lords and see if Darth Vader is free, because there’s a brand new hangout for those who favor the dark side of the force.

Pop-up bars have recently become a fad amongst popular culture fanatics, bringing of-age fans a place to celebrate and discuss with other diehards their favorite shows and films, usually around the same time of a release in order to promote the new season or film within that series.

The pop-up bar The Dark Side was created by the same troupe, Mythology, who brought to life the most current film themed pop-up bar Stay Classy, which was based on the film Anchorman. The creators behind The Dark Side have promised to give fans a “truly immersive galactic experience.”

At The Dark Side, guests can choose from the six themed drinks, each fashioned with deep space in mind and named after certain details from the films, including Blue Force, Red Force, The Imperial, The Dark Side, The Galaxy, and The Mindtrick. The drinks even have a mystical appearance that’s out of this world (sorry) since each of them either smokes or glows a neon blue or red.

There will also be a Star War’s themed menu, which will change every day. Some of the food on the menu includes Bantha Fodder, which is a vegan sushi egg roll, and tentacles on a stick, a soy BBQ glazed octopus skewer.

Not only will the food and drinks be on theme, but there will be special events and activities held at The Dark Side that C-3PO will certainly disapprove of. The special events include dance parties, themed DJ nights, Star War’s trivia, a few rounds of “alien speed dating,” as well as an “intergalactic burlesque show” with performers “from many different planets.”

Those who come to The Dark Side are welcome to cosplay and dress up as characters from the franchise, but it’s not mandatory to get in. For those who are more spontaneous, drop-ins are allowed, but if you don’t want to get caught in a massive line or risk missing out on the intergalactic experience entirely, visitors of the bar can reserve tickets in advance online. The admission price is $33 per person, which includes two of the custom-made Star War’s themed cocktails.

The Dark Side Bar will be opening on November 15th at 6925 Hollywood Blvd 3rd floor in Los Angeles, 201 Lafayette St. 1st floor in New York, and 816 H. St. Northeast 2nd floor in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, like the pop-up bars that came before it, The Dark Side will only last for a short time and will only be open for two months, closing sometime in January.

While Star War’s fans would travel to a galaxy far far away for an event like this, if you don’t live locally to one of the three pop-up bar locations, you can still take part in the Star War’s hoopla on December 15th when The Last Jedi premieres in theaters. May the force be with you!
